NANOGUARD COOL TOUCH

Hot surfaces, made safe to touch.

Steam lines that burn. Chilled lines that drip. Insulation that hides corrosion. Cool Touch is spray-applied insulation bonded directly to pipes, tanks, valves and equipment. Built with NanoTech Materials' Insulator and installed by NanoGuard.

Burn protection

Lower the contact temperature on hot lines and equipment people work around. Supports touch-temperature requirements referenced in ASTM C1057 and NACE TM21423.

Corrosion under insulation

A seamless coating film with no jacket seams for moisture to get behind. Salt-spray (ISO 9227) and condensation (ISO 6270-1) exposure: no blistering, rusting, cracking or flaking.

Condensation and ice control

Reduces sweating and ice build-up on cold lines and equipment. In a Michigan field application on gas meters and valves, a 5 mm build has been in service through three winters.

Who it's for.

Plant and maintenance

Coat valves, flanges and complex equipment where jacketed insulation is hard to fit.

Reliability and asset integrity

A bonded coating with no jacket seams for moisture to get behind.

EHS and safety

Lower contact temperatures on hot surfaces people work around.

Energy and utilities

Insulate at the surface on steam, condensate and hot-water lines.

Three layers, built to the temperature.

Cool Touch is a three-layer system. Thickness is built to the surface temperature it has to protect.

    The finished, protective surface

  • Water-based with non-reportable VOCs.
  • Zinc primer only on carbon steel; no primer needed on non-ferrous metals.

Two jobs: hot surfaces and cold ones.

Hot side: personnel protection

  • Steam and condensate piping
  • Boilers
  • Heat exchangers
  • Process vessels and tanks
  • Valves, flanges and manifolds
  • Pumps
  • Exhaust ducts
  • Ovens and dryers
  • Food, beverage and chemical processing equipment

Cold side: condensation control

Stops the sweating that drips, corrodes and contaminates.

  • Chilled-water and glycol lines
  • Refrigeration and ammonia lines
  • HVAC ducts and air handlers
  • Cold-storage tanks
  • Brewery and dairy equipment
  • Data-centre cooling systems

Modular skids and OEM equipment can be coated before installation.

Work that doesn't wait for roofing season.

Indoor equipment can be coated year-round. Outdoors, we apply when the surface and air are above 40°F (4°C).

Performance data: NanoTech Materials, Insulative Coating System product information. Ratings depend on film build, substrate and operating conditions.
